Accommodation
The 71 bungalows and rooms have been crafted and decorated in typical Sri Lankan style and are constructed from locally sourced materials in keeping with Ranweli’s eco-friendly aim. All rooms are air-conditioned and have a ceiling fan and telephone whilst bathrooms are equipped with solar panels to heat water.
Sustainable Features
- Renewable and local building materials were used during construction as well as local labour.
- The resort aims for effective environmental management by maximising the use of recyclable materials, recycling programmes and efficient treatment of liquid waste.
- Guests are introduced to the unique mangrove eco-system around Ranweli to heighten their understanding of their environment and hopefully stimulate their interest in helping Ranweli to preserve it.
- Organic vegetable gardens grow produce for use in the resort kitchens.

Facilities
There is a main restaurant and bar as well as a swimming pool and internet café. The beautiful gardens are a great place for a leisurely stroll and you can also enjoy a number of activities such as volleyball and squash. There are opportunities to go fishing, take nature walks or enjoy a spot of bird or butterfly watching. For those looking for ultimate tranquillity, there is also an Ayurvedic centre and yoga and meditation classes.

- In Colombo you can barter at Pettah Bazaar, buy an exquisite sari and famous Ceylon tea, and admire local artists’ work. You’ll also find gem-studded jewellery (only buy from shops licensed by the National Gem & Jewellery Authority).
- Galle is famous for its antique shops selling colonial furniture and ornaments, porcelain and pottery.
- A short drive up from Galle is Ambalangoda, selling antiques and intricately carved ‘devil masks’ traditionally worn to banish demons.
- Further south in Koggala, purchase delicious cinnamon from the local plantation.
